Dear Sculptor:

SECED proposes to operate the “SECOND ANNUAL — SECED GEMS EXHIBIT” featuring outdoor sculptures on Main Streets in Southeast Colorado. We invite you to submit your artwork to be considered for our year-long public exhibit. All sculptures in the rotation exhibit are for sale. Each year SECED GEMS EXHIBIT proposes to distribute thousands of brochures, advertise electronically and also acquire permanent pieces into the exhibit.

The regional installations of artwork will be on August 20th, 2005. Art supporters and community members will be invited to watch the installations and meet the exhibiting artist at this function.
All participating (SECED GEMS) exhibiting sculptors will be provided one free hotel room for two nights, on the weekend of installation. A reception for the artist will be held on August 19th, 2005 prior to installation.

Each year, as part of the exhibit, the public will vote to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award, which may be considered for purchase for the SECED permanent collection. In addition, a $500 annual cash award will be given to one of the sculptors.

SECED GEMS EXHIBIT is a public project; all proposed works are screened to ensure durability and artistic merit prior to acceptance. Fragile, dangerous or inappropriate works will not be accepted. SECED will create pedestals for the rotating display and pieces will be selected based on the artistic merit and appropriateness for public art. If selected, you will be notified and asked to supply us with a print-quality image for the full color brochure.

Use the application form and contract to participate. SECED will send you confirmation and more specific information on the weekend’s events no later than July 1, 2005.
